After much searching we have decided upon the first project we will support using some of the funds raised through the 2008 Highland Fling. Our decision was supported by the trustees and we have already sent $8200 out to Jen in Vietnam who is running the project. Jen put the money to use immediately and has already sent a first report and pictures.

Background
The Global Volunteer Network - Vietnam has been arranging volunteers to help in around 25 orphanages and day care centres for disadvantaged children in the central provinces of Vietnam.

The children in the programme have suffered much hardship in their lives and received little to no education. Many of them are unable to go to school now and those who can struggle because they missed out on the foundations of their education when they were younger.

We have provided a grant to hire teachers and buy school supplies to run a project to help educate these children; to help build the basic platform which should enable them to build a brighter future for themselves.
